13 years of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah: Jethalal's healthy flirting with Babita ji to Popatlal's impending marriage; revisiting Gokuldham Society

The renowned sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has completed 13 years in the industry. The show is one of the longest-running soaps of the Indian television industry and has kept the audience hooked with its relatable and slice-of-life content. What started as a mere show 13 years ago, now has a cartoon-based show and its characters are familiar in every household. On this special feat, let's revisit moments that have entertained the audience thoroughly and continue doing so:

2/9

Jethalal and Babita ji's healthy flirting

Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) has a soft corner for his neighbour Babita ji (Munmun Dutta) and makes sure to see her face from his balcony and strike a conversation with her. Jethalal can turn the world turn around at Babita ji's one voice. Jethalal can't afford to come across as a loser in front of Babita ji and their banter often makes way on social media in the form of memes. Several memes of Babita and Jethalal are enjoyed by the netizens.

3/9

Jethalal's argument with Bhide

Jethalal often finds himself trapped in situations where he is forced to take help of Bhide that leads to an argument between the two. Bhide, who is the society's secretary and often talks about his 'zamaane ki baat' gets irked when Jethalal doesn't pay the maintenance cheque on time. They fight like kids over trivial things but it doesn't affect their friendship.

4/9

Popatlal's impending marriage

The whole of Gokuldham Society has tried their best to get Popatlal hitched soon. However, all their plans and efforts go in vain because the perfect match for Popatlal has still not been found yet. Popatlal plays the role of a reporter, who is attached to his umbrella and considers the mahila mandal of the society to be his sisters.

5/9

Dayaben's 'garba'

Dayaben's (Disha Vakani) character on the show has been one of the most loved ones. Her heavy voice, innocent comedy, long phone calls with her mother, teasing her husband to being ever-ready to play 'garba' in any situation is lovable and entertaining. Even after years of quitting the show, the audience is awaiting her return.

6/9

Tapu Sena

The kids of the society organise every small and major function and the unity among all families is beautifully shown. Apart from Tapu (Raj Anadkat) and Sonu (Palak Sindhwani), the other younger lot of the show have grown up while doing the show. They have quite a fan following on social media as well.

7/9

Mahila Mandal

The mahila mandal of the Gokuldham society include Dayaben (She has now quit the show), Anjali Mehta, Mrs. Sodhi, Komal and Babita. They take up challenges and solve matters of the society with the 'Satyagraha movement.'

8/9

Respect for elders

Bapuji's character, father of Jethalal is respected by each and every member of the society. He advises everyone during problems and shows them the right path. The society members fondly call him 'Champak Chacha' and take his blessings before kickstarting any new journey. His character's comical touch is also loved by the audience.

9/9

Supporting characters

Bagha and Nattu kaka work at Jethalal's 'Gada Electronics' and their 'nok-jhok' with their 'seth ji' Jethalal is alwaays fun to watch. He treats them like family members are an integral part of the Gokuldham Society. Abdul 'bhai' has a general store inside Gokuldham society where the 'purush mandal' go to have soda after dinner. Abdul, too, is treated with utmost respect and love by everyone.
