With on demand content, OTT platforms, video sharing websites and various entertainment apps ruling how urban youth consumes content for entertainment, web series have become a norm. Short, crisp and contemporary, these have found loyal viewership in young India. And Gujarati actors are reaching out to these loyal fans by featuring in a number of Hindi web series. DIVYANG THAKKAR

The Bey Yaar actor, will soon be seen in a Hindi web series named Boygiri, which is all about boys gang. While Divyang finds working in a web series is all about finding a connect “with costars and having fun on the sets,“ it also means connecting with big Bollywood names who now also foraying into web series. Divyang adds, “One of television industry's biggest and well-known production houses is foraying into this genre and is handling this series as well. So it was a win-win situation for me.“

SAMVEDNA SUWALKA

Samvedna, who has already worked in a Hindi web series earlier is all set for her second one. She says, “My next web series is called, On the Rocks, where I play a hippie, which is a role I have never done before. I enjoy working in web series because contemporary and unconventional stories are being told. A number of big industry names are now getting into this space, so the technical treatment quite good. And working with young creative minds is always fun."

TUSHAR SADHU

Actor Tushar Sadhu, who has worked in two Hindi web series already, titled My Home and Harmony shares, “As an actor, web series gives you ample scope to experiment with various genres. Both my web series dealt with the theme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The reason for making them in Hindi and not in Gujarati is because it attracts more eyeballs. This was my way of creating awareness towards various social issues."

TANVI VYAS

With some of the well-known names from TV and Bollywood venturing into this virtual space, an interesting and out-of-the-box role is what lured Tanvi into web series. “I'm really happy to be a part of two very interesting projects Twisted and Karle Tu Bhi Mohabbat.While I play the role of wife suffering from bipolar disorder in one and Sakshi Tanwar's sister in another, both the roles are close to my heart. I really enjoyed playing Naina in Twisted as I have never played such a role which is unlike me."

KAVI SHASTRI

Actor Kavi Shastri who was seen in award winning film Wrong Side Raju is all set to star in a Hindi web series. While he cannot divulge much details at this point, he shares, he's quite upbeat about his character as there's no romantic angle to his role. “Web series have opened up a lot of opportunities for young and talented actors, directors and story writers as well. Also this is one place where there's no limitations in name of censor. So stories that cannot be told on TV or in films are shown here. I enjoyed doing this web series, as it's quite a cool character and thankfully I don't have any romantic interest, as I find it a little awkward when faced with the romantic angle.“

KRUNAL PANDIT

This Gujarati actor who has done cameos in a couple of Bollywood movies, recently debuted in Dhollywood with Dhantya Open. The actor who is seen in the Hindi web series, Spotlight, says, “Hindi web series are quite in vogue now. Also there are many good writers and directors who are making this space even more interesting and innovative.“ Talking about his role he adds, “I was more than elated to be a part of this web series, which talks about what goes behind the glamor industry . I play the role of a superstar's personal secretary ."
