Actor

Roy Chowdhury
’s career seems to be on the right track. The actor, who is playing the lead in TV show ‘Ogo
Nirupama
’, bagged an upcoming movie directed by
Mainak Bhowmik
. Actress Souraseni Mitra will be paired opposite him. Popular actress
Sandipta Sen is going to make her debut on the silver screen with this same movie.
Gourab is all excited about his new venture. “I am glad that things are falling into place. All my hard work is finally paying off. The film will narrate a beautiful and heart-touching story,” says the actor.
Earlier, a number of artists alleged that a television background reportedly posed a barrier in their movie careers. They also complained how makers are 'hesitant' to cast a known face on television because of 'over exposure'. With more and more actors, who established themselves in television, are being roped films, Gourab feels there isn't any difference between the small screen and the silver one.
“Talent is the ultimate thing and there shouldn’t be any hesitation about casting an actor from a television background. The line between TV and cinema is blurring. Along with this the so-called comparison between TV artists and film artists is also fading away. Pandemic has changed everything. We can see film actors doing webseries, big banners launching web-based films. Personally, I never believed there is any difference between a film actor and a TV artist. To me, the character I am playing is the real hero. I am an artist essaying who is portraying him. The same stands for the film too,” Gourab explained.
The actor also emphasised the importance of content irrespective of medium.
“Content is the king irrespective of medium. If the story isn’t good audience won’t accept it, whether it is a film, television show or webseries. It has been proved time and again. That’s why the entire focus is on content because audience has other mediums for their entertainment,” he added.
Incidentally, Gourab recently got discharged from hospital after being admitted for a couple of days. He is awaiting surgery for a tumour. Speaking about his health, the actor adds, “I am fully fit. I started feeling well the moment I entered the shooting set soon after getting discharged from the hospital. The upcoming projects made me even better (laughs).”
