Supernatural drama Ponchmi coming to an end within 8 months of its launch; peek into last day’s shoot

Supernatural drama ‘Ponchomi’ is finally coming to an end. Despite having a good start, the show has been lagging in terms of TRPs, more after actor Rajdeep Gupta’s exit. The makers however, tried to bring back the entertainment quotient first by roping in Yuvaraaj Chaudhury as male protagonist Kinjal and then changing the entire storyline with a time leap. Although speculations have been making rounds for quite some time regarding show’s end, ‘Ponchomi’ continued its journey rubbishing all the rumours. Now that the show just welcomed a new cast followed by a fresh storyline, the cast and crew were quite hopeful that ‘Ponchomi’ will continue its journey for at least a few months. The fresh story started airing from August 11. Notably, a few other shows, that had such changes in terms of storyline, are currently running on Bengali TV. But things turned out differently for Susmita Dey starrer ‘Ponchomi’. It was quite a shock for the team when they learned about the abrupt end. The team wrapped up the shoot on an emotional note. The supernatural drama starring Susmita Dey in the titular role was launched in December 2022. Despite drawing criticism and often being trolled on social media for certain scenes, Ponchomi managed to score well on the TRP charts almost immediately after its launch. Susmita as village belle Ponchomi, who is blessed with supernatural power, became popular too. The success of the show prompted the makers to launch it in Telugu too.
