Sourav Ganguly to Raj Chakraborty-Subhashree: Spike in COVID cases in Bengali entertainment industry raises concern

With the spike in COVID-19 and Omicron cases in West Bengal, the state govt has imposed restrictions. Punitive measures have been taken to control the current condition, too. Meanwhile, many celebrities from the Bengali television and film industry have tested positive for COVID-19. The sharply increasing COVID cases have indeed become a constant reason to worry. Celebrities like Parno Mittra, Raj Chakraborty and Subhashree Ganguly have tested positive for the second time. The 27 edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) has been deferred in the wake of the situation. Dada had recently tested positive for the virus and was rushed to a private hospital. He was discharged after his Omicron test result came negative and the doctor advised him for home isolation. Now, his daughter Sana has also tested positive for COVID however, wife Dona's report recorded negative. BCCI president, who is also hosting the popular show ‘Dadagiri Unlimited Season 9’, has been travelling extensively for his professional commitment. Sonu, along with his wife Madhurima and son, is under home isolation after testing positive for COVID. He has mild symptoms and is currently in Dubai. Sonu was supposed to attend the shooting of ‘Super Singer Season 3’ which will soon air its finale. He had also a few other work commitments but won’t be attending those right now.

Raj Chakraborty and Subhashree Ganguly have tested positive for COVID for the second time. Last year, Raj had tested positive for COVID-19 first and a few months later, Subhashree had tested positive for COVID. The couple is in home isolation while their son is with other family members.
