'Sona Roder Gaan’ to ‘Alta Phoring’: New Bengali shows set to spice up the entertainment quotient

Year 2022 will be high on entertainment quotient as a number of new shows are in the pipeline gearing up for launch. Some have stellar starcast, while some are making noise for its catchy storyline or real-life shooting locations. ​Sona Roder Gaan

This show has been making quite some noise even before the promo was aired. It will feature some of the most popular artists of this industry in different roles. Bengali TV’s all-time favourite actor Rishi Kaushik will be seen on the small screen after a long time playing the male lead while Payel De, yet another popular actress, will play the female lead. Sohini Sengupta, Shoumo Banerjee are playing meaty roles in the show which is written by Leena Gangopadhyay.

Pilu

The lyrical love story will feature Gourab Roy Chowdhury and Megha Daw. The makers have been shooting at picturesque locations of Bengal including rural areas of Purulia to give the audience a realistic touch. Interesting lead pair, strong cast and beautiful background music are a few things worth looking forward to. Biswanath Basu, Anjana Basu, Rudrajit Mukherjee, Idhika Paul will play prominent roles in this show.

Apni Ki Bolen

Bengali audiences have been eagerly waiting for this show since last year. The promo of ‘Apni Ki Bolen’ went on-air last October. But there isn’t any update since then. Veteran actor Debshankar Halder was supposed to host this non-fiction show which will highlight socially relevant issue. Debshankar, who proved his acting mettle time and again, was last seen hosting ‘Happy Parents Day’ which was an instant hit.

​Shyamoupti Mudly-Rano Jay starrer show

Leena Ganguguly’s yet another project will feature Shyamoupti and Rano Jay. The team is currently busy in shooting and having an outdoor schedule in Darjeeling and adjacent areas. It will narrate the story of a bubbly girl who hails from a hill station and wants to join Indian Army. Rano Joy, who is mostly seen in movies, will be seen on TV after a long time. ​Alta Phoring

After cricket, badminton player, lawyer and singer bahu, Bengali TV is set to narrate the story of a gymnast. Produced by Santanu Das, ‘Alta Phoring’ will feature actors Arnab Banerjee, Kheyali Mondal as the lead pair. Actress Saoli Chattopadhyay will essay the role of a daily wage earner. Interestingly, Kheyali, who will play the protagonist, is a trained gymnast. She started training in the local club when she was in class V. The very first promo of ‘Alta Phoring’ featuring bubbly Phoring her mom Radharani and male lead Abhra, received good feedback. The storyline highlight a number of recent issues including the situation of people whose life took a drastic turn first because of pandemic and then by cyclone, besides telling Phoring and Radharani’s tale.
