From Sweta Bhattacharya to Ditipriya Roy: Popular actors don new avatars for Mahalaya special show

Just a few days are left before Mahalaya. An ever enthusiastic Bangali can’t keep calm when it comes to any festival; especially Durga puja. Well, though this year’s situation is quite different due to the pandemic and Durga Puja will be celebrated under many restrictions, the enthusiasm remains the same deep in the hearts of Bengalis. Meanwhile, the TV channels have also geared up with their special shows on Mahalaya. While a leading channel is set to feature Mimi Chakraborty as goddess Durga, Jeetu Kamal as Ram and Madhumita Sarcar as Sita; yet another rival channel will air its Mahalaya special show featuring Sweta Bhattacharya as ‘Mahishasuramardini’, Ditipriya as Parvati and Durga. Other popular actors like Tiyasha Roy, Swastika Dutta, Sudipta Roy, Ushasi Ray will essay different forms of the goddess. From Sweta to Ditipriya, let’s take a look at their new avatars in the Mahalaya special show...

This year, the special show is based on the concept -‘Durga Saptasati Swambhabami Jugey Jugey’. Popular actress Sweta will be seen as Mahishasuramardini. Donned in a red banarasi saree, traditional jewellery and perfect make-up, Sweta looks stunning. The makers were keen to cast her as Mahishasuramardini since she is a trained dancer and quite expressive. She played Goddess Durga earlier too.

The young actress, who is playing the titular role in ‘Rani Rashmoni’, will be seen playing both Parvati and Durga. Known for her natural acting talent, Ditipriya looks beautiful as Parvati and Durga.

Actor Dhrubo will be seen as Asur. The makers have specially taken care of his look in the Mahalaya special show.

Ushasi, who is playing the titular role in ‘Kadambini’, is elated to be a part of Mahalaya special show. She will be seen as Shatakshi. ‘Daker Saaj’ has made her look even more beautiful.

Phirki actress Sampriti will be seen as Shakambari and Kaushiki. The actress has already become popular within a short time playing the lead role in 'Phirki'. She is elated to be a part of the show which will be aired on Mahalaya.

Sudipta is playing the lead in Suman Dey and Sreetama Roy Chowdhury starrer ‘Khirer Putul’. The actress will be seen as Bheema in this Mahalaya special show. Sudipta looks stunning in this avatar.

Krishnakoli's Shyama aka actress Tiyasha will be seen as Raktadantika and the talented actress is quite excited about it.

The gorgeous actress will be seen as Bhramori. With perfect hair, make-up and matching jewellery, Swastika looks enchanting.

Debadrita, who is currently playing Alo’s character in ‘Alo Chhaya’, will be seen as Devi Jogomaya.
