Diwali 2021: Enjoying cozy adda to rooting for cracker-free celebration: Bengali actors get soaked in festive mood

The festival of lights is finally here. Love and warmth of near and dear ones, good food, lights and a cozy adda are a must on Diwali. Keeping safety gears on, it is the perfect moment to let the festive spirit infect you. And our very own Bengali celebrities aren’t an exception. While most of the actors have been shooting, they kept their evening free to enjoy the festive mood. ​Debjoy Mallick and Rupashree Chakraborty

The couple is really excited to celebrate their first Kali Pujo and Diwali after the wedding. New bahu Rupashree participated in auspicious traditional rituals of the Mallick family. She says, “I am blessed to be a part of this family. Here, all the traditional rituals and customs are followed with full devotion. As the newest member of the family, I took part in some of the rituals including the pratishthan of Goddess Lakshmi. We celebrate Kali Puja with full fervour. This year we have a surprise. We decided to have female Dhakis.” Actor Debjoy’s wife Rupashree is a nutritionist.

Adrija Addy Roy

Adrija has a scheduled shooting today but she is hopeful to have an early pack-up. “I have to shoot for my show Mou Er Bari. But I am hopeful to have an early pack up. I will spend the evening with my friend and visit the Kali Puja pandal at our residential complex,” says Adrija. The actress roots for cracker-free Diwali. “I have two pets at home. So, I know the adverse effects of crackers on animals. I would request others to think about the innocent animals during Diwali,” adds the actress.

Suman Dey

The actor is busy with the shooting of period-drama Rani Rashmoni but he is looking forward to celebrate Diwali. “Festivals aren’t complete without loved ones. The cast and crew of Rani Rashmoni have become my extended family. We all have decided to celebrate Diwali together this year,” says Suman, who is playing Dwarika’s role in the popular show and earning quite some praises from the audience. (Photo: Facebook)

Priya Mondal

“I fast on Kali Puja irrespective of my shooting schedule. After offering Pushpanjali and ending my fast, I eagerly wait for the special sweets and other delicacies (laughs). Sayak ​Chakraboty

Sayak is looking forward to celebrating the festival of lights with his friends and family. “I will celebrate Diwali with my family and friends. Without them, festivals are incomplete. Tumpa Ghosh

Tumpa also has shooting today. "I have to shoot for my show 'Trishul-Teen Shaktir Aadhar'. We spend most of our time with the cast and crew members and have become our family as well. On the shooting set, I will spend time with them in the first half of the day. In the latter half, I will visit the nearby Kali Puja Pandal. Abhishek Veer Sharma

The actor is a bit upset as he couldn’t visit his parents in Siliguri during the festival. “I couldn’t visit my parents because of the shooting. They expected me to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja with them,” says the actor, who is playing the male lead in ‘Mou Er Bari’. He has planned to celebrate Diwali with friends in Kolkata. “I will celebrate Diwali with friends and have plans to spend the evening with some underprivileged kids. I firmly believe, festivals are the perfect time to share joy with everyone,” he adds.
