Actor Rahul Dev Bose gets candid about balancing TV-film, sharing screen with Prosenjit Chatterjee and more

Bengali actor Rahul Dev Bose is having a busy schedule these days. The actor, who is essaying the role of a successful entrepreneur in ‘Sagar Jyoti’, has a new project in his kitty. Rahul has bagged a prominent role in an upcoming film that features none other than Prosenjit Chatterjee and Bengali TV’s very own ‘Rani Maa’ Ditipriya Roy. In a candid conversation with ETimes TV, Rahul shared his excitement of bagging the opportunity to work with Bumba Da, challenges of balancing two completely different projects, working in ‘Sagar Jyoti’, and much more… (Photo: Facebook)

Being Sagar Sen

Rahul, who has been a part of a number of popular shows including ‘Bajlo Tomar Alor Benu’, ‘Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay’, ‘Prothoma Kadambini’, is paired opposite actress Nabanita Malakar in the TV show ‘Sagar Jyoti’. Speaking about the experience, he adds, “I love being a part of the show. I am playing Sagar Sen, a successful entrepreneur in Sagar Jyoti. He is smart and ambitious. This character is different from the previous roles I have played on-screen.” (Photo: Facebook)

Bagging a new project

The actor is on cloud nine after bagging a new project. “I will start my shoot for my upcoming film pretty soon. I will play a prominent role in Prosenjit Chatterjee starrer Aye Khuku Aye. It will also feature Ditipriya Roy,” says Rahul with a big smile on his face. (Photo: Facebook)

A challenging task

For an actor, balancing two projects at a time isn’t easy. In fact, it is quite a challenge to play different characters on-screen, manage schedules and prepare for the new project. “Overall, the biggest challenge for me is that I have to balance between two schedules which isn’t an easy task. Balancing both projects is quite a task. Thankfully, team ‘Sagar Jyoti’ and my film's directorial and production teams are very supportive," says Rahul. This is not the first time, he is juggling between television and film. "I had a similar situation when I was shooting for ‘Torulotar Bhoot’. At that point of time, I was busy with the shooting of yet another television project. For me, balancing starts with figuring out the schedule properly,” says the actor. (Photo: Facebook)

Preparation

Rahul is currently busy prepping up for his new project. “Preparation for cinema is quite different from television, where you do have to spend a lot of time researching your character. The stylistics are totally different. I have to devote more time for preparation, sleep a bit less, and work a little more (laughs), which I think is a part of the challenge. I have always been up for it. I am enjoying it,” he adds. (Photo: Facebook)

Working with Prosenjit Chatterjee

Bagging a movie, starring none other than Bumba Da and produced by filmstar Jeet, is quite an opportunity for any actor. “Working with a stalwart like Prosenjit Chatterjee is indeed a great opportunity,” says Rahul. Speaking about Bumba Da’s professionalism and charisma, Rahul says, “I have never identified myself as a born talent when it comes to acting. It has always been about preparation, professionalism, evolving with time, and taking risks. With regards to that, Prosenjit Chatterjee is an institution unto himself. I have always been a big fan of how he has evolved with time, how he has adapted to the changing times. His professionalism is something I worship. An opportunity to work with him is amazing. Learning first hand is like me visiting Mecca. As an actor, it is allowing me to evolve.” (Photo: Facebook)

Sharing screen with Ditipriya Roy

Rahul has worked behind the camera before facing it as an actor. He met Ditipriya during the shoot of Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Rajkahini’. Now, he is paired opposite her. “I know Ditipriya for a long time now. I was working as an assistant director for a film where Ditipriya played a very prominent part. She was in her early teens then. It’s fun working with her. In this film, I am paired opposite her. For both of us, it is a very different experience altogether.” (Photo: Facebook)
