West Bengal Tourism registers steady growth in public funding

The latest numbers revealed by the tourism sector of West Bengal clearly indicate that it’s not just the popular North Bengal tourism sector which is making waves among travellers, it is also the other parts of the state that are doing their bit in raking up the strength of the state’s travel industry.
Jain also pointed out the tourism potential that West Bengal has in all kinds of destinations that it is home to, including religious, cultural, adventure and medical tourism. All of this, he said, makes the state one of the most preferred destinations among travellers from all parts of the world.

Along with the increase in public funding, the state of West Bengal has also registered a growth of 20 percent in the number of tourists visiting the state.
Apart from these figures, Jain was also happy to highlight the fact that West Bengal has one of the highest occupancy rates in the country. According to the registered figures, the 3,000 high-end hotels in Kolkata together have an occupancy rate of as much as 70 percent.
As expected, the Durga Puja celebrations in 2017 saw a huge number of tourists visiting the state, with the number of foreign tourists totalling to 2,000 during that period.

However, it is not just the festival that the West Bengal tourism board is banking on for attracting travellers. Reportedly, some major tourism projects is also being undertaken by the state in Gajoldoba in North Bengal and Jharkhali in the Sunderbans.
