The actual name of the Carmelite Church is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and of St Joseph. It is a Roman Catholic Church on the Royal Route. Built around the mid-18th century, like St Anne’s Church, it has a distinctive Neo-classical facade and is known for its twin belfries. The church stands on the grounds of an original wooden church which was burnt down in the mid-17th century.
