Dense fog alert: Most flights and trains rescheduled in Delhi

As cold wave grips the national capital, with temperature falling to a single digit, and dense fog engulfing the city, visibility also remained low causing difficulty for commuters. In view of this, the Delhi Indira Gandhi Airport issued a fog alert this morning stating that low visibility procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport, while all flight operations are presently normal. However, it added that for any update of any flight, passengers must contact the respective airlines.

If reports are to go by, around 21 flights were delayed today, as a thick layer led to low visibility.
Meanwhile, Northern railways also updated that as many as 12 Delhi-bound trains have been delayed, and several have been rescheduled due to fog.

Also, earlier in the week, the visibility had dipped to 50 m at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which led to the delay of around 100 flights.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense to very dense fog and cold day conditions will likely continue over North-West India during the next three-four days, and will decrease thereafter. And as per the forecast, the minimum and maximum temperatures in January this year will most likely remain below normal over many parts of central India and adjoining areas of peninsular, east and northwest India.
