Egypt reopens for vaccinated travellers, no PCR test required

The government of Egypt has announced that it will allow fully vaccinated travellers to enter the county without taking a PCR test. It has to be noted that the travellers must be vaccinated with any of the Egyptian Drug Authority and WHO-approved vaccines, which include Sputnik, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sinovac and Johnson & Johnson.

Visitors should also carry their officially issued QR-coded certificates as a proof of vaccination and present it at the time of entrance. The Egyptian Ministry of Health said that travellers, who have received their second dose 14 days before travelling, can also enter the country without a PCR test.
But travellers coming from COVID-19 impacted nations will be subject to a rapid test upon arrival. For non-vaccinated travellers, a negative PCR test result is mandatory. As of now, Egypt has put India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Brazil in the list of high-risk countries.

Travellers from these countries will have to take an ID NOW COVID-19 test on arrival in Egypt, regardless of their status of vaccine. In case the result comes positive, a PCR test will be conducted. If the PCR result is also positive, the passenger will be sent to a designated hospital to quarantine.
The country started lifting several COVID-19 restrictions in June to attract visitors this year. Egypt recorded 466 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and took the overall number up to 278,761.
