The Gangotri Dham is now shut for pilgrims due to the incoming winter months. As announed by the Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Management Board on, the holy place was closed on Friday. Moreover, Yamunotri Dham, and Shri Badrinath Dham too would remain shut during the winters months.
The Char Dham Yatra had reopened for tourists on September 18 after the travel ban was lifted on September 16 by the Nainital High Court. The yatra was open for fully vaccinated pilgrims with a mandatory COVID negative report. The famous religious pilgrimage attracts lakhs of tourists each year. The Gangotri Dham saw over 32948 pilgrims this season.
The winter months are extremely harsh in this high altitude region, and it gets completely closed for devotees. The temples reopen for devotees usually in the months of April-May. So, you can expect Gangotri Dham to reopen next year during that time.
