Heatwave warning in India: IMD forecasts heat and rain conditions in these states
The India Meteorological Department has provided forecasts indicating a mix of rainfall and heatwave conditions across several states over the forthcoming five days. While some places in India might witness light to moderate rainfall, others could encounter elevated temperatures indicative of heatwave conditions. These forecasts play a crucial role in helping residents and authorities prepare for potential weather-related challenges and adapt their plans accordingly.
India under the grip of heatwave
The weather office has earlier predicted the likelihood of “extreme heat” across several Indian states in the upcoming months. The forecast indicated an increase in above-normal heatwave days over most plain regions, with expectations of 10 to 20 heatwave days in various parts of the country compared to the usual four to eight days.
Indian states and their heatwave conditions
Heat wave conditions are expected to occur in isolated areas over north interior Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Telangana, and parts of Andhra Pradesh till April 7. Expect warm night conditions in these places.
Places that are going to be humid
Till April 5, hot and humid weather is predicted to prevail over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Rainfall in Northeast India
According to the latest bulletin from the IMD, Northeast India can anticipate light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms until April 9. States like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are forecasted to have fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall.
East India under the spell of rainfall
Till April 7, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to witness isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning too. Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar should prepare for isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning from April 6 to 9, with Bihar experiencing this on April 7 and 8.
