As India’s COVID-19 cases go through the roof, nations across the world are imposing rules for Indian travellers. While some have banned flights from India, others are listening to strict guidelines for Indian travellers. France travel guidelines for Indian travellers rule that Indians must undergo a 10-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival.
While India has an air bubble agreement with France, the new rule will be in place for all travellers coming from India. Under the air bubble agreement Air India and Air France are operating flights between the two countries. The air bubble connects Paris to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi. Delhi and Mumbai are two of the most affected cities during this second wave of the pandemic.
On the other hand, Paris has banned all flights from Brazil, where the P1 variant of coronavirus has been found. Passengers travelling from Chile, Argentina, and South Africa are required to undergo quarantine as well.
India has currently recorded 16.3 million cases till date, as every day hits a new record for the country. The country is unfortunately also reporting numerous deaths caused by the virus. Meanwhile, the Indian state of West Bengal has reported a triple mutant variant, one that surpasses the immune system. This new variant can possibly even compromise the effectiveness of vaccines.
