India: International flights suspended till March end

India has suspended scheduled international flights once again. As per the reports, international flights will now remain suspended till March end. However, cargo flights will still continue to operate. The ban on overseas flights was supposed to end on February 28.

Also, flights operating under the air travel bubble will continue as they have been operating all the while. Currently, India has air bubble agreement with around 27 countries, which include countries like Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bahrain, Ethiopia, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Iraq, Kuwait, Kenya, Nepal, Maldives, the Netherlands, Oman, Nigeria, Rwanda, Qatar, the Seychelles, Ukraine, Tanzania, the UAE, Uzbekistan, the UK, and the United States of America.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently issued an order that stated international commercial passenger services will remain suspended to and from India till 11:59 PM of March 31, 2021.
Scheduled international flights were earlier suspended on March 23, 2020, in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak. Now, with the latest order, it will be one year since India ordered a ban on international flights. Also, since the order was issued, India has been operating Vande Bharat Mission flights and flights under air travel bubble.
Reports have it that regular international flights will likely not resume soon due to the current scenario of growing Coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, travel bubbles and repatriation flights for essential (and some leisure) travel will continue as of now.
