Snuggled in the lap of Himalayas, Pahalgam is a small picturesque town in the Anantnag district of Kashmir. With little instances of modernity, the town takes you decades back with its old world charm. Galloping horses, gushing rivers and tall pine trees cover the city and it looks amazing in the morning especially when you are staying close to Lidder. There are small shops, catering to minimal requirements of everyday life and one or two computer shops that charge enormously for everything. Try local things while you are staying here; start your day with a cup of Kahwa or sheer chai in the morning and eat in the local eateries to get the taste of real Kashmir. Besides being the starting point of Amaranth Yatra, Pahalgam is a base for many small and lengthy treks. There are many campsites and no dearth of hotels in the region. These hotels also manage day tours and help you get in touch with the operators that organise adventure activities like sledding, river rafting, trekking, camping and fishing. You’ll be able to get the best of the city within two days but many tend to extent their stay to explore the untouched areas of this mystical town.
