If you are looking for some serious shopping then better head elsewhere. This one is reserved for shoppers like me—keener on just getting a feel. Spread in an area of 250 m and dating back to the 18th century, the Nakamise shopping arcade is a dazzling traditional shopping arena that includes 90 shops selling lots of souvenirs and many different keepsakes, including folding fans, hats, handbags, kimonos, bamboo slippers and weapons among others. There are a lot of hot and fresh snack items like biscuits and cookies to satisfy your hunger pangs too. The arcade has a reputation of being touristy and overpriced but if you take pride in your shopping skills, then there are definitely treasures hidden here for you. As the street is prominently located on the road leading to the highly popular Sensoji temple, it remains busy with tourists for most of the day, which in turn makes it a great place to soak in the energy of the animated swarm heading in or out of the Senso-ji temple. Shopping or no shopping—just to be a part of it is a lot of fun as well.
