World’s best waterfall hikes
The world is full of stunning places waiting to be explored and experienced! One such experience is waterfall hikes, which are exceptional and memorable. There is a reason millions of people hike to Niagara Falls and Iguazú Falls, because the sight of cascading water over a cliff's edge is simply spectacular.
Let’s checkout the most renowned waterfall hikes worth visiting in the world.
Veliki Slap, Croatia
Veliki Slap meaning Large Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Plitviče Lakes National Park. The park features seven waterfalls and 16 lakes. There are several trails that lead from one sight to the next and the easiest one is to take Trail A from Entrance 1 and hike the 3.5 km loop. The hike is simply amazing!
Tappiya Falls, Philippines
These gorgeous falls can be found near the tiny hamlet of Batad. To reach these falls, one needs to hire a bike or opt for public transportation from the Banaue and then start hiking the remaining 15 minutes to Batad. The trek to the falls from village is just around 45 minutes but it’s a memory of a lifetime.
Havasu Falls, Arizona
Havasu Falls in Arizona is a sight to behold! The blue and green waters of Havasu will leave you awestruck but reaching here is not everyone’s cup of tea. The waterfall is administered by the Havasupai Tribe, and one needs a permit to reach here. After getting a permit, you’ll have to go on a four-hour drive from the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park to Hualapai Hilltop and then it is a 13 km trek to Supai Village and then 3.5 km hike to Havasu Falls!
Cola de Caballo, Spain
Set inside Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, the Cola de Caballo is one stunning waterfall. To reach here, one needs to leave the vehicle at the park’s car park and go on a 17 km hike. Start early so that you can reach there by midday and enjoy stunning views of the sunset.
