It is one of the only open air markets left in the centre of Rome, and although it is a far cry from what it used to be, a market that was crowded and chaotic overflowing with fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese and meats, this is still a market that deserves its place as some of the best shopping in Rome. Although there are a few more tourist stands, selling souvenirs and other things such as spices, those original family run stands can still be found if you look hard.
