Upcoming expressways in India that are set to make your travel faster

If reports are to go by, India will have 1.8 lakh kilometers of national highways by 2025 that will not only help to cut down your travel time across the country, but will also help to boost the country’s economy. Here, we take a look at the most talked about upcoming expressways in India.

The best thing about this route is that once the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is completed, both the cities will just be 12 hours away. This will also lead to decreasing the distance between Delhi and Goa, which will be another highlight of this route. If records are to go by, the current travel time between Delhi and Goa is close to around 35 hours by road; once the new expressway in Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa becomes operational, the travel time between Delhi and Goa will be cut down by 15 hours!

This expressway is expected to be completed in the next six months, and will help people to cover the distance of Mumbai to Nagpur in just 8 hrs. The route will cover around 701 km, and will be connecting 10 districts and around 390 villages. The prominent places that will be connected are Kalyan, Nagpur, Nashik, Wardha, Bhiwandi, Aurangabad, and Shirdi. The route will have around 5 flyovers, 33 major bridges, 25 interchanges, 189 underpasses, 6 tunnels, 110 underpasses for light vehicles, and 209 underpasses for animals and pedestrians.

It’s a major upcoming expressway in South India, and this four-lane expressway will be connecting Bengaluru with Chennai, two capital cities of two central states of southern India. The route will be of 260 km and run across Hoskote and Bangarpet in Karnataka, Palamaner and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, and Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.

The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway stretches to across 650 km, and will run through Bahadurgarh Border in Delhi to Katra in Jammu. Once this expressway becomes operational, some of the major cities that will be covered are Amritsar, Nokadar, and Gurdaspur. Further, it’s expected that this four-lane expressway will promote religious tourism, as it will be connecting pilgrim spots including Vaishno Devi temple and Golden Temple.

Raipur–Visakhapatnam Expressway is a part of the Raipur–Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor, and this six-lane expressway will cover a distance of 464 km. It will pass through the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh in central and east-central India. If all goes well, this route will likely be operational by 2025.

This will be a 6-lane expressway, covering 94 km long corridor that will pass through 12 cities, including Bulandshahr, Hapur, Sambhal, Amroha, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, Hardoi, Raebareli, and Pratapgarh. An interesting point is that this expressway will have connectivity with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Prayagraj-Varanasi Expressway, and the Meerut-Haridwar Highway. If everything goes as per the plan, this expressway will be completed before 2025 Mahakumbh, and will also be linked with the Agra Expressway and Yamuna Expressway.
