Located at the foothills of the Himalayas close to the Indian border, Manas National Park lies in close proximity to the Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan. The Park is known for its rare and endangered species such as the Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur and pygmy hog. Famous for its stunning natural habitat, it is also a tiger reserve and has been bestowed with the honour of being named a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site. The most enchanting part of the park is the Manas river, which takes its name from the serpent goddess, Manasa. The largest Himalayan tributary of the Brahmaputra, the crystal clear waters of the Manas run right through the heart of the Park, making it rich in flora.
