The easiest guide to plan a trip to the beautiful Maldives; know all about flights, hotels, attractions!
Maldives is a dream destination of many! People from across the globe visit the island nation for their honeymoon, beach holiday or to chill simply! Though the Maldives is considered a year-round destination, the best time to visit is from December to April. During this time, the weather remains dry but pleasant, with little or no rain showers. For those planning a trip to the Maldives, this first-hand guide to the island will help you plan.
Visa for Maldives
Indians do not need to pre-apply for a visa to visit Maldives. In fact, travellers of all nationalities can get a 30-day visa on arrival, free of cost, up to a maximum of 90 days. All you need is a valid passport, a valid ticket, proof of confirmation of reservation in a hotel/resort in the Maldives, proof of funds covering the expenses incurred while in Maldives.
Booking a hotel/resort
The Maldives is no doubt a destination of luxury, but that does not mean you won’t find something that suits your budget. There’s something for everyone. For those on a luxury trip, the country is brimming with a number of private islands, home to international resorts and hotels which are synonymous with opulence.
Per night room tariff at these luxury properties cost somewhere between INR 20000 and INR 1 lakh or more! But, those on a budget trip, can find a number of homestays and budget hotels in the capital city Male. There are smaller islands closer to the city, where one can get a room in a resort at INR 3500.
Packing essentials for Maldives
Sunblocks and hats are the two of the most important things you need to pack. If possible, pack an umbrella too to protect yourself from the island sun, which can be extremely harsh. Pack a lot of light cotton clothing, as the Maldives remains pretty humid all the time.
Flight tickets to Maldives
Make sure you book your Maldives tickets in advance to get the best prices. A return flight for Male (Maldives) from New Delhi (India) would cost around INR 20000 per person. A direct flight takes around four hours to reach Maldives from New Delhi.
Experiences to indulge in
The Maldives is a paradise for adventure enthusiasts! A range of water sports activities could be enjoyed here, including kayaking, fishing, parasailing, jet skiing and snorkeling among others. All the private islands arrange for these activities, but the price is a little higher. In comparison, small beaches in local islands also offer a number of activities at a much affordable price.
