Offbeat beaches on the shores of Bay of Bengal
The Bay of Bengal has always brought immense joy in the lives of travellers. Thanks to its spectacular beaches. Now, we are taking you further into its heart by discussing some of its offbeat beaches, for an intimate holiday by the sea.
Shankarpur Beach, West Bengal
About 14 km away from the crowded shores of Digha, Shankarpur is a paradise for beach lovers. A virgin beach destination, it is also an important fishing harbour. The evenings are beautiful here, thanks to the enchanting cool breeze. The shacks and bars by the beach here make things a lot more interesting and enjoyable.
Rushikonda Beach, Andhra Pradesh
Located in the beautiful city of Visakhapatnam, Rushikonda Beach is a Blue Flag beach, which means it has the highest standards for eco-tourism. With natural rocks and an overall sense of serenity, the beach has become home for those looking for a quality intimate time. Perfect as a weekend getaway, Rushikonda Beach is also a destination for jet skiing, and surfing.
Tajpur Beach, West Bengal
This beach destination in Midnapore district is a hidden beach destination that will certainly excite travellers. Again, away from the madding crowd, the beach destination is home to many charms. Tajpur is certainly a beach for early risers, as the playful seagulls every morning are a sight for sore eyes. There are a few camping resorts here, which are perfect for an idyllic holiday. The tamarisk trees found here certainly make an impression, and so do the red crabs found all across the sand in the early hours.
Chandrabhaga Beach, Odisha
Close to the Konark Temple in Odisha, this beautiful beach is known for the famous International Sand Art Festival. The best thing about this beach is that you can wander around aimlessly, and enjoy nature’s beauty. You can go to the many camps nearby where adventure water sports can be experienced. Here, in Chandrabhaga, a bonfire after sunset is the best way to end the day. The sound of the waves in the dark is especially romantic.
Chandipur Beach, Odisha
Located in the state’s Balasore district, Chandipur is a beautiful destination. It is not as crowded as Puri, so you can have a very personal experience. It is located about 16 km away from the Balasore Railway Station, and is unique in nature. It is a biodiversity hub, and is home to the horseshoe crab.
