Munnar is one of the most picturesque towns in the Western Ghats, Kerala. Blessed with abundant natural beauty, the hill station is surrounded by rolling hills sprinkled with a range of tea plantations. When it comes to nature, the place is a paradise for every soul looking to rejuvenate and relax. Eravikulam National Park, Lakkam Waterfalls, Anamudi Peak and Attukal Waterfalls are some of the prominent natural attractions to visit in the hill town.

Anamudi Peak and Eravikulam National Park
Standing at a height of 2695 m in the Western Ghats, Anamudi is the tallest peak in south India. The grand peak is situated inside the prominent Eravikulam National Park and is covered in dense wood forests. Adventure seekers can also enjoy trekking in the region. The park here is home to some of the largest surviving Nilgiri tahr, and Asian elephants.

Mattupetty Dam
This concrete gravity dam was built between 1949 and 1953 for conservation of water and generating electricity. There’s a catchment region of 105 sq km which is the main source of electricity. The place also is home to a number of wild animals and birds. People can also indulge in watersports.

Kundala Lake
The gorgeous lake is nearly 20 km from Munnar enroute Top Station. The place is noted for its pretty cherry gardens and the famous Neela Kurunji flowers, which bloom once in twelve years. People can also enjoy boating in the lake and cherish the views of green valleys and sunsets.

Kolukkumalai Tea Estate
Set at an elevation of 7900 ft, Kolukkumalai Tea Estate is the highest tea plantation in the world! The estate is on Kolukkumalai Hills and is noted for growing special type tea. There is a tea factory that was built somewhere in the middle of the 20th century. It still uses traditional techniques of producing tea. Don’t miss out on the sunset views.

Attukal Waterfalls
A major tourist attraction in Munnar, Attukal Waterfalls is a sight to cherish! The water gushing through the hills making the most amazing sound stun onlookers in one look. The waterfalls look arresting especially in the monsoons.
