A golden dancing peacock with emeralds and rubies studded in its feathers forms the crown of the Devi in Chauliaganj Puja Pandal. The enchanting crown weighs more than 3 kg in gold and was crafted by popular filigree artist Biswanath Dey and his son Ajay, who are counted among the last few continuing practitioners of the filigree craft. It took them six months to prepare the crown, which is a unique blend of intricate filigree work and modern designs. Here too, the organisers had installed a 22-ft-high Chandi Medha in the year 1999 and 3 quintals of gold was used. The entire structure is handmade featuring both traditional and contemporary designs and floral patterns. Motifs of the popular Wheel of Life in Konark Sun Temple too find space in the backdrop. In the subsequent years, gold ornaments like necklaces, earrings and bangles were made for the deity. The accompanying deities wear silver jewellery.
