People are often fascinated by Delhi’s history and all the prominent attractions in the city, such as the India Gate, Qutub Minar and Red Fort, among others. But if you are someone who wants to enjoy this city’s offbeat beauties, there’s a lot on offer.

Visit Delhi slums
If you thought only Mumbai had slums, you need to visit Delhi. You can go on a walking tour of a city slum and understand the other side of the historic city and how people live there. It's definitely one of the most offbeat and non-touristy things to do in Delhi.
Visit Asia's largest spice market
Did you know that Old Delhi is home to Asia’s largest wholesale spice market? Khari Baoli Road in Chandni Chowk is noted for its spice market, which has been there since the 17th century. One can buy sacks and sacks of really fragrant spices here.
Spend some time at the Tihar Food Court
Tihar Jail in Janakpuri is one of the most surprising attractions in the city. The food court here has prisoners working as staff and there’s a whole market that sells products made by them. The food court was inaugurated in 2014.
Experience the street art
The Lodhi Art District in South Delhi is as beautiful as it gets. The place is a hub of global and local artists, who have painted some 50 murals on the street walls which look absolutely out-of-the-world.
Enjoy a langar at Bangla Sahib
Bangla Sahib is one of the most revered places in Delhi for Sikh community in the city. And the langar or community kitchen of Bangla Sahib is quite famous. Food here is served to every person irrespective of their colour, caste or creed. A group of volunteers run the big kitchen and people sit on the floor together and eat.
Attend a qawwali night at Nizamuddin Dargah
Another sacred place in the city is Nizamuddin Dargah, which is the resting place of the famous Sufi saint, Nizamuddin Auliya. The place attracts devotees from across the globe but the charm of the place is different on Thursday evenings when the courtyard of the dargah is filled with the soulful tracks by qawwali artists.
A trip to Hijron Ka Khanqah
This is basically a graveyard! Hijron Ka Khanqah is the resting place of 50 eunuchs and the mausoleum is preserved by the transgender community living in the city. This is a sacred place for them.
