India’s most-loved ski resorts
Ski resorts are probably one of the best escapes from the summer heat. While we mostly hear about the famous international ones, India too has its fair share of some interesting and luxurious ski resorts that are perfect for adventure sport lovers. The northern part of the country is home to some very interesting and popular destinations where skiing can be enjoyed.
Let’s have a look at some of the best ski resorts in India:
Auli, Uttarakhand
Auli in Uttarakhand is the most preferred skiing destination in India. The destination is absolutely stunning, well-maintained, and makes for a pristine retreat away from the summer heat. In 2011, Auli hosted the first SAF Winter Games in India and, since then, the place gained recognition as a winter sports destination. There’s also a skiing institute here, where skiing classes are conducted.
Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh
Another awesome skiing destination in India is Narkanda, set in the lap of Himachal Pradesh. Situated some 65 km from Shimla, this place has different slopes for different levels of skiers. From beginners to advanced level skiers, all can practice here.
Kufri, Himachal Pradesh
Just a few kilometres from Shimla, lies the gorgeous Kufri. This picturesque destination is a renowned skiing hub in Himachal Pradesh and during winters, the place remains crowded with skiers from all over the world. The slopes covered in snow offer an incredible skiing experience. Every year, the Himachal tourism department hosts an annual winter sport festival.
Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir
Next in the list is the Gulmarg, which boasts unparalleled skiing slopes. Skiing in Gulmarg is one of the best things to do in Kashmir. The sport has two beginning points, one is Kongdori and the other is Aparwahat Peak. There is a 450 m slope that offers an enthralling experience to skiers at Kongdori. The skiing slopes here are perfect for beginners as well as for pros.
Dayara Bugyal, Uttarakhand
Dayara Bugyal or Dyara Bugyal in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand is noted for offering some excellent skiing opportunities to skiers. The place has been a haunt of both domestic and international skiers.
