An Adventure of a Lifetime
The stunning geographical landscape of India compels you to be adventurous. The Himalayas is certainly a part of this adventurous journey, but you also have its meandering rivers, gorges, valleys, deserts, and more. Seeking spiritual bliss in India is a common practice for travellers since a long time, but if you are curious, you might want to try out its adventurous spirit too. There are numerous ways to experience an Indian adventure, here are some of its most popular ones.
Trekking
Thanks to the dramatic Himalayan range, trekking does not get any better than this. From high altitude passes that requires great trekking skills, to even easier ones for beginners, the trekking scene in India is just undeniably spectacular. While this is good enough, it is not half the story. Turn your head towards the Eastern Himalayas in the states of Sikkim, and West Bengal, and you open up more possibilities. Go down south, and you have the beautiful Western Ghats to enchant you too. The Chadar Trek is one of the most coveted ones, taking you through the frozen Zanskar River.
Rock Climbing
Rock Climbing is not new to India. In fact, you can learn it here too at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute that was set up way back in 1954 in Darjeeling. For those who are experts in the area, and are looking to go climbing, you have Hampi to in Karnataka to try it out. Its big boulders will entertain you, and challenge your skill. Then there is the village of Badami in Karnataka, and its red sandstone cliffs as the perfect climbing destination.
White Water Rafting
The Himalayan town of Rishikesh is extremely popular as a white water rafting destination. A world class destination for rafting in general, Indian rivers make rafting a challenging sport. While Rishikesh is in north India, rafting is something you can enjoy in all parts of the country. Yet another great destination is the Teesta River flowing through Sikkim and West Bengal.
paragliding
Talk about an extreme adventure! Paragliding in India is quite common these days, and you have quite a few destinations. But one of the most coveted destinations is the Solang Valley near Manali. Surrounded by high Himalayan mountains, paragliding here really takes your brathe away. There are other destinations too, such as Bir-Billing in Himachal Pradesh, and Panchgani in Maharashtra.
