In 2020, the four regions – Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu merged into one, and from two separate Union Territories (Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu), it officially became one Union Territory – Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. All four regions are located in and around the state of Gujarat.

Our search for all things heritage and interesting has brought us to Daman and Diu. From natural attractions to what’s left of old Portuguese control, the region is rich when it comes to beauty – natural and man-made. Here are some cool ways to experience the region of Daman and Diu.
Jampore Beach in Daman
Jampore Beach is one of the cleanest beaches in Daman. It’s a white sand beach and there are almost no big hotels on the beach, so you can expect a quiet time over there.
St. Jerome Fort in Daman
This one is for the history buffs. Learn about the history of the Portuguese invaders who made Daman one of their important bases. The fort area has a number of beautiful sculptures to look at and attractions such as the Jain Temple and Church of the Lady of the Sea.
Ghoghla Beach in Diu
Ghoghla Beach is easily the most popular beach in Diu. The beach is clean, big and very pretty too. For scenic sunsets and pleasant beach fun, Ghoghla is a very good option.
Naida Caves in Diu
Did you know that the Portuguese were responsible for these caves? Well, they are, in a way. At first, the Portuguese were using chunks of these rock formations for their construction works. Then later, erosion and weathering carved rocks into the attractive caves we see today. Naida Caves is a photographer’s delight.
Somnath Temple in Daman
Somnath Mahadev Temple is a temple with a view. Surrounded by the Arabian Sea, the temple is a great place to see sunrise. Somnath Mahadev Temple is known for its architecture, especially the intricate designs and sculptures.
