Mussoorie is a quaint little hill station that makes for a perfect getaway not only for those seeking thrill, but also for those looking to escape the chaos from the city lights. Whether trekking to Gun Hill Point or boating on Mussoorie Lake, there are endless things to do in Mussoorie. No matter how many times you have visited this hill station, there’s a chance you will find a new secluded viewpoint on your next trip.
So, here is how you can make the most for your Mussoorie holiday.
How to reach?
Those coming from outside the country, can reach Delhi or Mumbai airports, from where they can opt for a connecting flight. There, you will find several taxis that will take you to your destination. The nearest airport from Mussoorie is Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport, which has flight connectivity to several Indian cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Trivandrum, and Lucknow. If you want to book train tickets, the nearest one to Mussoorie is Dehradun Railway station. Also, you can take the road by either opting to travel via a state-run or private bus, or you can even opt to drive your car.
Day 1 for adventure activities
Once you reach Mussoorie, you will be amazed to see there are numerous things to do in Mussoorie. With the focus of keeping the first day for some activities, apart from many trekking and camping options, you can also go paragliding that starts from Dhanaulti and Mussoorie Lake, roller skating, boating, rock climbing, rafting, shopping, and much more. If you want to end the day by a relaxing activity, opt for fishing in the fresh waters. There is Yamuna River and Aglar River that will provide you ample opportunities for fishing.
Places to eat
Here, the cuisine is primarily influenced by the Tibetan and Garhwali food. Finding your favourite dimsums, noodle soups, and thukpas will be quite easy here, whereas you will also get the opportunity to try food made out of pulses, rice, lentils,and popular Garhwali dishes like jhangora ki kheer, Aloo ke Gutke, Bal Mithai etc. Some of the eateries that need special mention are Char Dukan, Lal Tibba, Casa Mia Bakery, Chic Chocolate, Mall Road, and Tavern.
Day 2 for exploring the hill station
After having breakfast in your hotel, set out to explore this beautiful hill station. No trip to Mussoorie is considered to be complete with a visit to Kempty Falls. Then there is Lal Tibba, which is one of the highest viewpoints in Mussoorie, from where one can view Kedarnath and Badrinath on a clear day. Gun Hill Point is another popular viewpoint is Mussoorie. If you are seeking solitude at this time, don’t miss the Cloud’s End located 6 km away from the Library Road. Other places that you can include in your travel list are Mussoorie Lake, Sir George Everest’s House, Jharipani Falls, and Company Garden.
