Winter really is fun in Winnipeg—cold but still fun and locals bundle up and celebrate the season in many different ways. We suggest planning your trip around the winter festival that takes place every year, or around Christmas time when millions of lights light up the entire city. If you happen to like playing outdoors in the snow, there are plenty of snowshoes and cross country ski trails throughout the city and the surrounding parks as well as snowboard and snow tube options for the kids. If you would rather head indoors, make sure to spend at least a day checking out the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. Pop up restaurants on the frozen river, the longest skating rink in the world, a NHL hockey team to cheer on and an ice climbing tower to concur all await visitors in the city of Winnipeg.
