Tomorrow we celebrate the 152nd birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, fondly known as the ‘Father of the Nation’. Gandhi with his non-violence policy and Swadeshi movement led India towards its freedom from Britishers. If you wish to know more about the life of the great Indian legend Gandhi, then Delhi is the place for you.
Today we take you on a virtual tour of all the historical monuments associated with Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi.
Raj Ghat
This memorial, dedicated to Gandhi, is developed in the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. It is one of the must-visit tourist spots in Delhi attracting tourists from all over. The ghat is located on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg Road.

National Gandhi Museum and Library
Located in Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, the National Gandhi Museum and Library houses a rich collection of books, journals, photographs, exhibitions and art closely related to Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kastur Ba. One can also find information and audio-visual materials for research purposes.

Kasturba Kutir
This is a small museum set in the Kingsway Camp of Delhi. The two-storey house which is now a museum is the place where Gandhi lived with his wife Kasturba and son Devdas during 1930s and 40s. It is one of the few museums dedicated to ‘Ba’. In this simple house you’ll find a lantern, a charkha and a copy of the Gita.

Gandhi Smriti
Gandhi Smriti, formerly known as Birla Home or Birla Bhavan, is a beautiful museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The museum is located in the region where Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life as he was assassinated on 30 January 1948. On 15 August 1973, the place opened as Gandhi Smriti where a number of write-ups related to Gandhi’s life can be seen.

Bapu Ashram, Valmiki Mandir
Very few people know that Gandhi stayed at the Harijan Basti in Gole Market in 1946. There’s Bapu Ashram in the compound of Valmiki Mandir. It is here where Gandhi lived and taught English and Hindi to youngsters living in the region. There are portraits and pictures of Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other important leaders, who visited the place during Gandhi’s 214-day stay, from April 1, 1946, to June 10, 1947.
