Chartered and budget carriers
Word to the wise: Those on a budget can take a local bus for EUR 1.20 to Anagnina metro station on Line A from where you can change for your final destination.
Small Ciampino airport handles chartered and low-cost carriers like Wizz Air, as well as executive flights. Though it might seem quite refreshing that the 'budget' airport is closer to the city than the main airport, getting there by train is not necessarily that easy.
A train does run near the airport from central Rome; however, passengers will need to take a transfer bus between the train station and the airport, and may find it more convenient simply to take the bus all the way to Rome's centre.
Terravision and SIT buses run a shuttle service to Stazione Termini leaving every 30 minutes costing EUR 8. Buy a return ticket as it's cheaper. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and deposits (or picks up) on Via Marsala. Taxis to and from the airport will cost roughly EUR 35.
