Wildlife safari in Rajaji National Park
The Rajaji National Park is prized for its picturesque natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Set along the foothills of the Shivalik range, the park is one of prime wildlife reserves in northern India.
Stay in Jim Corbett National Park
Located some 180 km from Dehradun, the Jim Corbett National Park is noted for its tiger population. The park, with its unique flora and fauna, attracts visitors from all over the world. It is also India’s very first wildlife reserve established way back in 1936. It is known as Jim Corbett National Park in the honour of the legendary hunter-turned- conservationist, Jim Corbett.
Sahastradhara, a beautiful weekend getaway
Located some 1.5 hours from the city centre is the cold sulphur water spring called Sahastradhara. It is said that the water from the sulphur spring has exceptional medicinal qualities. So people visit here all over to take a bath in the hot spring.
Plan a trip to Mussoorie
Also noted as the ‘Queen of the Hills’, Mussoorie is one beautiful hill station located some 30 km from Dehradun city. This colonial hill station has a charm of its own and is favoured vacation spot for vacationers, lovers and nature enthusiasts.
Marvel at the Forest Research Institute
Set on the Kaulagarh Road, the Forest Research Institute was built in 1906 by the British. The institute is dedicated to the preservation of the country’s much-threatened flora and fauna. It is also the biggest forest based product-training institute and the training school for all forest officers in India.
Find peace at Mindrolling Monastery
Situated in Clement Town of Dehradun, Mindrolling is one of the key monasteries of the Nyingma school (Tibet). The gompa was re-established in India in 1976. Now it is a recognised centre for learning. The manicured gardens of the gompa also feature a looming 185-feet-tall Stupa, which is one of the largest in the world. There’s also an impressive 35 m high gold Buddha Statue dedicated to the Dalai Lama.

One of the best experiences from Dehradun is Rishikesh. The Yoga capital of the world is noted for its unadulterated beauty and amazing mountain and Ganga views. For those looking for the quirkier side of this beautiful destination should not miss visiting the amazing Beatles Ashram here.
A trip to Robber’s Cave
Robber’s Cave, also known as Gucchupani, is one of the prime and unique tourist spots in Dehradun. This is a great spot to spend the day with a picnic basket. The place primarily attracts tourists for its strange natural phenomena where a water stream goes underground and reappears a few metres away.
