India has a glorious tribal side which is still unexplored and undiscovered. The country has a range of tribes, from Nagas in Nagaland to the Kurumba tribe in the Nilgiris, the history and traditions of these tribes are absolutely unique and amazing. To those who wish to get an insight into the glorious past of these Indian tribes, there are some spectacular tribal museums one must visit.

Tribal Museum, Bhopal
This is one of a kind museum as it was built by the tribes from Madhya Pradesh. Inside this museum, you’ll find beautiful artefacts and instruments belonging to seven indigenous tribes of MP, which are Gond, Bhil, Baiga, Kol, Korku, Sahariya, and Bhariya. There are six galleries here displaying the traditions of these tribes.

Tribal Museum, Araku Valley
The Tribal Museum in Araku Valley is built using mud and metal. The museum gives an insight into the lifestyle of tribal people living in the region. You’ll be stunned with the gorgeous colourful artwork, textiles and utensils. One of the most interesting things here is the fortune-teller who talks only in the local language.

Odisha State Tribal Museum, Bhubaneswar
The Odisha State Tribal Museum represents more than 62 communities of the state. The museum features five tribal homes which are made by the tribals themselves. There’s also a pretty herbal garden inside. You’ll find a number of gorgeous art and dokra items.

Living and Learning Design Centre, Kutch
The Living and Learning Design Centre (LLDC), this tribal museum is one of the most famous in the country. This women centric museum has women from more than 12 different communities preparing fifty styles of tribal embroidery All these are then showcased at the LLDC.
