Bombay to Goa–the good ol’ bus trip
Featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Aruna Irani and Mehmood in key roles, this movie is about a woman on a run to salvage her life. She boards a bus from Mumbai bound for Goa, and meets not only her admirer cum saviour onboard but also a quirky bunch of adventurous co- passengers from all walks of life. This movie taught us to how to have fun on a bus trip.
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge–in love with Switzerland
We all remember the evergreen love story of a girl who met a boy onboard a Eurostar train during their group trip to Europe. That’s how we developed a crush on all those exotic Swiss locations such as Gstaad, Zweissimen, Jungfrau, and Interlaken.
Jab We Met–bringing train travel and towns into spotlight
It is a movie that delightfully wove travelling via train, bus, rickshaw, cycle, jeep, truck and what not into its story line. It also inspired several people to travel all the way to Ratlam, Bhatinda, Kota, Manali and the Rohtang Pass.
Queen–solo travel is cool
Queen was a landmark movie that gave a major push to all the female travellers out there undertake solo trips, thanks to the daring protagonist Rani who went to Paris and Amsterdam.
Ye Jawaani Hai Diwani–of Kashmir and Rajasthan
Jaws dropped when viewers witnessed the beautiful locales of Kashmir in the movie. That’s how people added Kongdori in Gulmarg, Srinagar and Pahalgam to their travel bucket-list. In the second half, the magnificent forts of Rajasthan made destination wedding in the royal state a long-lasting trend.
