If you’re looking for a less-touristy alternative to the Gundulićeva Poljana Market in the Old Town Square, then this is it. The Gruz Farmers Market is located near the Ferry Terminal, on the grounds of an old Croatian summer villa. The Gruz Farmers Market is the best place to shop if you are staying in Dubrovnik for a long time or you’re renting an apartment in the city. The colourful market has everything you could possibly need to put a memorable meal together in the kitchen—think olives, cheeses, breads, jams, pastries, even flowers! It is easy on the pocket as prices are low and usually fixed. Vendors don’t bargain much here. This is probably why it’s considered one of the best places to shop in Dubrovnik. It’s the perfect place to shop for eggs, fruits and vegetables. But the USP of this market is the seafood. Visitors can buy fish, squid, prawns and octopus as soon as it gets off fishing boats. So the seafood here is literally as fresh as it can get. Try to visit the market between 8 am and 12 pm. It is open for business everyday but Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest days of the week.
