Winters are almost here and with the onset of a new season comes loads of interesting and much-awaited festivals in India. These festivals are the best way to celebrate the colourful culture and traditions of our country. It also gives travellers an opportunity to visit and experience various parts of the nation.
Here’s a list of some of the most prominent and coolest winter festivals one must attend in India:
Sunburn Festival, Goa
What started in 2007 as a 3-day music festival in Goa, Sunburn today has become an international-level celebration attended by lakhs of music lovers from across the globe! The electronic music festival has become a brand boasting an eclectic mix of music.
Rann Utsav, Kutch, Gujarat (26 Oct, 2022 to 20 Feb, 2023)
One of the most-awaited and celebrated winter festivals in India, Rann Utsav celebrates all things beautiful and colourful in life. This amazing cultural festival started as a three-day celebration but today has become so huge and evolved into a 100-day celebration. The festival is organised in the village of Dhordo near Rann of Kutch. An entire tent city has been created here to welcome travellers from across the globe.
Mount Abu Winter Festival (30 to 31 Dec, 2022)
Being the only hill station in the state, Mount Abu attracts travellers from across the globe especially during the Mount Abu Winter Festival. The super amazing festival celebrates the royalty of Rajasthan. The 3-day long celebration sees folk music and dance, live concerts and fire performances.
Magnetic Fields Music Festival, Rajasthan (9 to 11 Dec, 2022)
Happening between 9 to 11 December, this year will be the eighth edition of this beautiful music festival. The fest is organised every year in a 17th century palace-turned-hotel in Shekhawati, Rajasthan.
Hornbill Festival (1 to 10 Dec, 2022)
It is another very well-organised and awaited festival celebrated in the northeastern Indian state of Nagaland. The festival celebrates the beautiful culture and tradition of different tribes living here. There’s folk dance, music, food and what not! Absolute burst of colours.
December Music Festival (Dec to Jan)
December Music Festival is a month-long celebration of South Indian music and dance which was started back in 1929. This is one of the most amazing winter music festivals. Locally it is known as Kutcheri Session and is organised in Chennai in the month of December and January every year.
