Cool Nainital experiences you shouldn't skip
Being a former British hill station, Nainital is everything you imagine a resort town would be. If you are inclined towards an easy, relaxed holiday in Nainital, you have picturesque lakeside sightseeing and activities or leisure walks through iconic colonial buildings. The old colonial charm stands out.

If adventure is your thing, Nainital has got that covered too. From nature hikes to sailing to exploring hole-in-the-wall cafes for unexpected gems, there’s so much to do in Nainital. Here, we have handpicked the coolest of Nainital experiences that you need to travel for.
Sailing on Naini Lake
Naini Lake is one of the most recognised lakes in India, and for all the right reasons. You can go boating or take a yacht out to sail; either way, it’s a wonderful experience. Beautiful lake view, lakeside lined with maple and chinar trees, Tibetan markets for knick-knacks, there’s plenty to do here.
Eating out
Nainital is a melting pot of cultures, and the best thing to come out of this is the food scene. From traditional Kumaoni to international cuisine, you will get to experience some of the most delicious food experiences in Nainital. There are interesting cafes like Sakley’s Restaurant and Pastry Shop, Cafe Chica, Simz Cafe among others that you should definitely try out. And then there are cool roadside eateries that will serve you delicious traditional meals. Meal with a view!
Hike up to Tiffin Top
Tiffin Top is also known as Dorothy’s Seat. It is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Nainital. People mostly do this hike to see the sunrise. Also, winter is the best time to do this hike because from up top the view of the winterline phenomenon is just spectacular.
Nainital Ropeway
Ropeways are one of the best ways to see a hill station. The cable car ride will let you get a bird’s eye view of the resort town and the pretty alpine forests that surround it. This cable car ride is from Mallital to Snow View.
Explore the Mall Road
Mall Road is great if you love shopping for souvenirs. There are several Tibetan shops from where you can pick up a souvenir or two, woollen clothing items, and handmade scented candles that Nainital is famous for.
Go birdwatching
Pangot and Kilbury Bird Sanctuary is a great place to see Nainital's rich birdlife. Located just 13 km from the town of Nainital, it’s a short one hour drive to some of the best wildlife experiences in the hills.
Visit the candle factory
Speaking of picking up candles as souvenirs, located very close to Naini Lake, there are several candle shops from where you can pick these scented souvenirs. If you are interested, you can also do candle-making workshops in one of these candle outlets.
