Coming soon 8 new museums to look forward to in 2022
If you are the kind of traveller who enjoys delving into the history of a place and loves to visit museums, the year 2022 has a lot in store for you! There are noteworthy museums that will open in 2022 around the world! From medieval art and NFTs to robot-built futuristic spheres, here is a list of eight new museums opening this year.
NFT Museum, Seattle, Washington
NFTs or non-fungible tokens are basically cryptographic assets with unique identification codes and metadata. One can’t trade or exchange these at equivalency. This one-of-a-kind museum will reflect the interest in digital and blockchain-verifiable art. The first NFT museum opened on January 16, 2022, and is attracting people already. There are 30 displays, each between 43 to 85 inches, where visitors get to see artwork by local and international artists.
Museum of the Future, Dubai
The Museum of the Future in Dubai is going to be extraordinary in many terms. First of all, the structure of the museum is designed in torus shape wherein the circle is symbolic of humanity and knowledge and the void symbolises the unknown future. Each floor of the museum will host interactive exhibitions on climate change, ecology and space travel among others.
Robot Science Museum, South Korea
This incredible museum is scheduled to open in late 2022. Situated in Seoul, this brand new museum is dedicated to all things robotics. One of the prime draws of the museum would be the fact that the futuristic sphere-like structure of the museum is partially built by robots along with Turkey-based architects. Robots have been used in molding, welding, and assembling the metal plates covering the façade.
ReefLine, Miami
While it is not a classic example of a museum, Miami's new ReefLine is a unique attraction that will surely draw art lovers and diving enthusiasts from all over. Basically, it is an 11-km-long underwater sculpture park featuring art installations of coral and endangered marine life. The first phase of the park is all set to open in the summer of 2022.
National Museum, Norway
Norway's latest Nasjonalmuseet or National Museum is all set to open in June this year. As per the reports, this is the largest Nordic museum in terms of area. The incredible museum building is designed by German architects and will feature the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design among others. One can also enjoy some splendid views of Oslo’s city hall square and waterfront.
Sydney Modern, Australia
Though it’s not a “brand new” museum, the extension to the famous Art Gallery of New South Wales in Australia has certainly added a hint of newness in the whole place in terms of design! The architecture features rectangular pavilions offering spectacular views of the Sydney Harbor. The new structure will have exhibition space to host more than 2 million visitors per year!
Museum of Broadway, New York City
For the lovers of theater and musicals, summer of 2022 is going to be special. It is the first museum dedicated solely to Broadway! Set in the heart of New York City's Theater District, the museum will offer an interactive experience and immersive experience to the visitors.
Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt
Slated to open in November 2022, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has already gained a lot of popularity because of many reasons. First of all, the museum is ready to open after 20 years since the first foundation stone was laid and secondly, for housing a gigantic 3200 year old statue of Ramses II.
