What would a Moroccan city be without its Medina? The Old Medina in Casablanca is a teeming market with carpet sellers, dyers, green grocers, potters and artisans. Things are frantic in here at all times of the day. Kids squabble, housewives go about their chores, teenagers hang around with their friends and vendors try to outsmart each other into selling their wares to tourists. Things are frantic in here at all times of the day. Kids squabble, housewives go about their chores, teenagers hang around with their friends and vendors try to outsmart each other into selling their wares to tourists. The colourful cacophony of Casablanca’s Medina is truly special.
Despite all its colours, Casablanca’s Medina pales in comparison with the Medinas of Marrakech and Fes. If you’re headed to either of those cities after Casablanca, you might want to hang on to your money and hunt for bargains in another city.
