One of the most recognisable buildings along the Grand Canal, the Ca' d'Oro is perhaps more famous for what it once was than what it is today. The original mid-15th century structure was a magnificent Gothic creation, dripping with golden decorations - one of Venice's crown jewels. From the 16th century, a succession of owners imposed their own renovations until, in 1846, the ballerina Maria Taglioni decided to completely gut the place. Read less

Ca’d’Oro is one of the smallest Venetian museums, but its collection, just like the venue itself, is truly diverse and among the most outstanding in Venice. The marvellous art collection is introduced by magnificent façade of the Ca’d’Oro, which features Venetian Gothic style with intricate floral patterns.
