Established in 1847 by the Governor of Madras, this gorgeous park is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the country. It is spread across 55 acres, and divided into six sections, which together make for a refreshing daytime excursion. Its main draw is a 20 million year old fossilized tree, but it also has many rare varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers, and some magnificent topiary displays. It also plays host to a show of flowers and rare plants every May.
