Summer or winter, Mussoorie is always one of the most loved and visited places in India and for some very obvious reasons. Located in Dehradun district, Mussoorie is also called the Queen of the Hills. Whether it is to go back in time or indulge in some cool adventure activities, Mussoorie has got everything covered for you. This winter, if you find yourself leaning towards Mussoorie, you might want to check out what cool things you can do while you are there.

Forest-walk at Benog Sanctuary
Take a stroll on the well-maintained paths inside the sanctuary and enjoy nature at its best. Also, keep an eye out for the colourful birds of Benog. The walk is pretty easy and safe. There is no entry fee.
Go roller skating
Know how to roller skate or would love to try out? Head to one of India’s largest roller skating rinks at the Rink Pavillion. It is also one of the most popular skating venues in India.
Go souvenir shopping
The Mall Road is the best place to pick out some of the coolest souvenirs from Mussoorie. From handcrafted wooden items to pretty jewellery and warm woollen items to monoculars, find it all here.
Try to meet Ruskin Bond!
If you are lucky, you will be able to meet one of India’s most beloved writers, Mr. Ruskin Bond. Every Saturday, he meets his fans of all ages at the Cambridge Book Depot (3:30 PM to 5:30 PM).
Visit the unique Sainji village
Sainji Village, located just 5 km from Mussoorie, is also lovingly called the Corn Village. Tourists make a bee-line to this village to get a snap of the unique look of this village – corn decorations everywhere. Garlands of dried corn-on-the-cob adorn every house in this village.
Hike to George Everest Peak
The hike is barely 500 metres, so anyone can do it. The peak is one of the most-visited and photographed places in Mussoorie. Come here for the gorgeous views of the mountains and the valley. Buddhist prayer flags adorn the top.
See the winterline phenomenon
Mussoorie is one of the very few places in the world where you can see the winterline phenomenon.
Go hiking
The best way to enjoy the scenery is to take a walk, and Mussoorie is full of such picturesque pathways for nature walks. Happy Valley, Cloud’s End, Jabarkhet Nature Reserve hikes are some of the popular ones.
Find some great food
Garhwali and Tibetan cuisine should be your main goal here. When in Mussoorie, you cannot miss out on the piping hot thukpas and momos or the Garhwali chainsoo or aloo ke gutke. Visit Doma’s Inn in Landour for a hearty, mountain meal.
