Game of Thrones, the popular TV Show, was shot partially in Belfast’s Titanic Studios. What has fans of the TV show flocking here—is that beyond the Studios, Northern Ireland itself was the principal film location for much of Game of Thrones. While a traveller could potentially self-drive to the locations that were used as Winterfell, the King’s Road, Renly’s Camp—it’s best to select from one of a litany of Game-of-Thrones tours available, run by competent local companies. Expect to trek through forests and into ruined castles, as you entrench yourself in the mood of the show. Some scenes were filmed at Castle Ward (the historic farmyard here was the location of Winterfell) and adding this stop to your itinerary is worth the money spent. Stark winter cloaks and replica swords let you get more playful amid the dramatic scenery. The Winterfell Archery Range has also been recreated in the courtyard, so if you want to feel like you are smacked in the middle of the show, here’s where to go.
