Delhi, a paradise for art and artists
Delhi is a city of art and artists; being the art capital of the country, it is dotted with numerous galleries and has incredible art collections. This one is not just an art gallery but an institution in itself. The sprawling art centre was set up in the memory of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The institute is a perfect venue for art lovers, where they can display their work, attend workshops and meet their fellow artists from all over the country.
Lalit Kala Academy
Also known as the National Academy of Art, this art gallery in the heart of Delhi is spread across four floors. The art centre was inaugurated by the Indian government in 1954 with an objective of promoting visual arts. Besides Delhi, the academy has its centres in Shillong, Chennai, Kolkata, Shimla, Lucknow, and Bhubaneswar.
Vadehra Art Gallery
Established in 1987, Vadehra Art Gallery promotes Indian contemporary art and artists. The gallery, set in Delhi’s Defence Colony, has worked with prominent artists like MF Hussain, Akbar Padamsee and SH Raza.
