Thanjavur Doll, Tamil Nadu
These are traditional handmade bobble head dancing dolls, which are worldwide famous. Bothe Thanjavur paintings and dolls are world famous and have immense cultural significance.
Kathputli, Rajasthan
String puppets, also known as kathputli, are traditional handmade colourful dolls of Rajasthan. These are controlled by an artist via single string. Puppet shows are absolutely famous in Rajasthan and are tourists’ favorite thing to do.
Dhokra, Chhattisgarh
This is the famous art of Bastar in Chhattisgarh. Dhokra is basically the art of wax metal casting. Products by Dhokra artisans are very famous such as Dhokra horses and elephants.
Channapatna Toys, Karnataka
These are traditional wooden toys made in Channapatna town in Bengaluru. It is a traditional craft which is protected under the World Trade Organization and is absolutely famous.
Bidriware, Karnataka
Another very famous traditional handicraft is bidriware which originated in the town of Bidar in Karnataka. It is an important export handicraft of India noted for its artistic metallic work that was developed in the 14th century during the reign of the Bahamani Sultans.
