Exploring Jaipur for free
Jaipur is a cracking destination. It is a city that can light up Instagram feeds with the photos of its colourful public places. And above everything, it is affordable too! From food to clothes and sightseeing, you can have fun in Jaipur without spending much. And if you wish to experience the Pink City, by spending only a few monies (or nothing at all), well, there are a few good options here.
Visit the Jal Mahal
Jal Mahal is located en route Amer Fort. It is a small palace located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur. Jal Mahal is a five-storeyed building that has four floors submerged water. It used to be the shooting lodge of the former Maharaja of Jaipur.
Visit Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan for tranquillity
Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan or Royal Gaitor Tumbas is the cremation site of the former kings of Jaipur. However, it is perhaps the only public place in the city where you can avoid hearing the annoying sounds of noisy traffic. The royal cenotaphs are made over the cremation site which is an ideal blend of the Indo-Islamic architecture.
Visiting traditional workroom for making and coloring clothes
Jaipur was made to be a cynosure of all eyes for its arts and crafts. So, it is an enriching experience to watch how the artisans make those colourful leheriya fabrics, the ornate jewels and traditional lac bangles. Ask a local in Jaipur, your tour guide or a local taxi/rickshaw driver to take you to the crafts bazaar and other workshops.
Meditate, spend some time at Galtaji
Galtaji is holy place located about 10 km from Jaipur. What makes it special is the fact that long ago, a saint named Galav lived her and did penance. Today, a series of temples stand here. A natural spring spouts from the hill and flows downward, thus, filling a series of sacred kunds (water tanks).
